Some Privacy Please....

Isn't the sliding barn door that Steve made for our downstairs bathroom absolutely fantastic?  Just love it!  He is also working on window jams and sills.  We are kind of in a lull as we wait for the flooring to be delivered.  3 dates have been scheduled and cancelled by Lowes because the cold temperatures have wrecked havoc on their vehicles.  Hopefully we will be in possession of the planks by early next week.

Before he left for a job related month away, Mark was able to get most of the switches (both regular and dimmer) installed as well as more than half of the outlet and switch plate covers in place.  He also started hanging some of my light fixtures.  The 2 in the kitchen are my favorites so far!

Joel and I are up at the house almost everyday doing snow removal.  This winter has been exceptionally brutal with freezing temps and lots of white stuff.  The truck and plow are hanging in there by a thread...flat tire and dead battery stalled us last week.  Shoveling is good exercise though, right?!

Welcome 2018!

Hope everyone had a healthy and happy holiday season.  Well, here we are launching into another exciting and productive year.  We took a short break from working on the house last week, but that did not stop us from heading up there everyday (sometimes twice a day!) to check on things as the temps have plunged into the minus arena.  Late in the week our water pipes froze, most likely down near the source, in the pump house.  Steve came up and applied some heat tape, but still no water as of today as it is continues to be very cold.  Hopefully it will begin to flow again this week or next if it warms up a bit.  In the meantime, Matt will have to wash his brushes and rollers out off site.

Yesterday we brought the dogs up to romp around in the snow which they enjoyed, but I think they liked basking in the late day sunshine by the sliding glass door in the Rustic Room better!

Here's what Joel and I enjoyed...some wine and cheese at our new pub table and swivel chairs, also in the Rustic Room.  I have a feeling that this is where we all will be spending lots of time once we settle into the house:)  It felt kind of funny, though, trading in our summer chairs for our winter ones....

Lake Delta is certainly as beautiful in the winter as it is in the warmer weather.  We cross country skied down our hill and onto the lake over the weekend.  We were a tad nervous about the running water rimming the shore, but if you get up enough speed you just shoot right over it!  No really.  We waited a few days until it seemed safe enough to cross over.  Had a blast!
