Tiles, Molding, Steps...

As we near the end of another productive week up at the house, I am happy to share photos of all the progress in different rooms.  Matt and his team have returned to get the master bathroom shower and floor all tiled.  So far I am really liking the floor!  I cannot get a glimpse of the shower yet as they had the room blocked off last night, but check out my blue and white surface.

Steve has been working on the trim in the Rustic Room.  He thinks he can have it completed by the end of today!  He encased the LVL support beam in the middle of the room with wood and distressed it to match the beam in the kitchen.  He has most of the molding around the windows and doors and he built beautiful steps leading up to the kitchen.

Oh, and Joel is always chipping away at odd jobs when he is not priming and painting trim (which seems to be a never ending task!).  Last night he re-supported all of the front hallway stair treads...from underneath.  The little Harry Potter room under the staircase is such a fun
space!

Exciting news!  On Wednesday afternoon Steve and I met with the countertop installers who came all the way from Albany to make templates of the surfaces.  They plan to return next Wednesday to put all 6 counters in place:)

Before, During, And ALMOST After!

Brian, the man who has helped us out several times with flooring in the past, has been waiting patiently since the fall to come and refinish our upstairs hardwood floors.  We just gave him the green light, and this week he has nearly completed the project.  Hopefully the final coat of polyurethane goes on today!

                                                                 bedroom #1 before
                                                                  just after sanding
                                                                     almost done!

There has been quite a lot of positive energy flow and workmanship going on at the house all week long in addition to the flooring project.  Mark has continued to finish up the wiring and installation of many of my light fixtures.  He just got my bathroom pendants up.

                                                                         master bath
                                                                          guest bath

Steve and Larry have been systematically going from room to room getting the trim work in around the doorways and the baseboard moldings installed on top of the new eucalyptus floors.

I absolutely love the fun and decorative way Steve has come up with to encase the original support beams and deal with the off kilter lines that come with old homes.

Last but not least...I ordered the kitchen countertops yesterday and just received a call from the templating team who will verify our measurements next week and hopefully install them the following week.

This Weeks Progress

Beginning with the refrigerator move from our Turin Road garage and new-home placement on Monday clear through the dining room and den baseboard molding and kitchen wall installation throughout the week, so much got done at the house that my mood is bright even though the days are gloomy.  Both Steve and Joel have been busy as Joel has been priming and paintings the window moldings in his free (haha!) time.  Take a look at what has been accomplished lately...

I am especially pleased with the tongue and groove wall above the exposed old brick surrounded by stately pillars and topped with a new beam that has been distressed to look old that will soon be our breakfast bar.  The pillars will be finished in white, the beam will be stained to appear original, and I think I will paint the planks the gray wall color!  We will be placing the order for our counter tops this weekend:)

More Floor!

As of yesterday afternoon, the entire downstairs has a new floor, and it is beautiful!  We have a shiny new surface from the front door all the way back to the Rustic Room sliders.   Steve still needs to get some transition pieces in place, but essentially we are done with this phase.

Another accomplishment is the completion of the dining room built-in cupboard.  Dennis worked diligently on it for three straight days.  I love the elegant curved shelves on the side of the cabinet!

Our downstairs closet doors got installed as well.  Everyday brings new and wonderful progress.
